From Humble Beginnings...

Our company was founded in 1959 when Thomas O. Miller and his son Bruce started a coffee delivery service. Through the years they recruited dedicated employees and expanded their product line. Our story Starts Here...

1959

In 1959 Thomas O. Miller & Company, Inc was founded when Thomas Miller acquired SM Bull Wholesale Grocers in Newburgh N.Y. and started delivering coffee to local restaurants, delis and offices. Through hard work and perseverance his dream of a coffee delivery service materialized.

1960's

A new look and a new Location.

1960's

In 1960, the company was renamed Thomas O. Miller & Company, introducing a new logo to reflect its evolving identity. Three years later, Thomas’ son Bruce joined the business, helping to drive its continued growth. As the company expanded, it relocated to Washington Street in 1964, and then to a larger facility on Carter Avenue in 1967.

1970's

Expanding Our Product Line.

In 1971, continued growth led us to relocate to Mill Street, which became our home for the next 19 years. In 1974, Thomas O. Miller & Company joined the All Kitchens buying group, expanding our offerings to include a full line of food and provisions.

1980's

Welcoming a Third Generation.

1980's

In 1982, we acquired Moses & Schaffer Produce Co., expanding our offerings. Jeff Miller joined the company in 1983, marking the start of the third generation. We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 1984. In 1988, we joined the Pocahontas buying group, and in 1989, acquired Baccu Produce & Ice and began building a new facility.

1990's

Experience the Difference.

In 1990, we moved into our new Marlboro, NY facility. In 1992, the Cash & Carry opened, fulfilling Thomas Miller’s vision of a general store. We acquired Mountain View Foods in 1995. Michelle Miller joined in 1996, and the logo was updated with the Starburst design. Founder Thomas O. Miller passed in 1997, but his values remain at our core. In 1998, we introduced Riverview Farms and added the tagline: “We Care – Experience the difference.”

2000 - 2005

For Serious Coffee Drinkers.

2000 - 2005

In 2000, we launched J.B. Marshall Coffee, now a leading brand in the Hudson Valley. In 2001, Pocahontas named us Distributor of the Year. By 2004, we were recognized as Outstanding Distributor for Region 4 by the Progressive Group Alliance and acquired Country Coffee Paper & Supply, introducing the Country Coffee program.

2006 - 2018

The Torch Is Passed.

In 2009, we celebrated our 50th anniversary and joined the UniPro buying group.
In 2011, Bruce and Shirley retired, and Jeff became company president.

60 Years of Excellence.

2019

In 2019, we celebrated our 60th anniversary with a special logo and yearlong festivities, culminating in a Diamond Celebration Gala. Sadly, in September, Shirley Miller passed away, and the gala became a tribute to her life. Her quiet strength and wit are deeply missed.

Changing with the Times.

In 2020, the global pandemic impacted the foodservice industry, causing lockdowns and supply chain disruptions. Despite these challenges, we adapted and remained committed to serving our customers and community. Thanks to our dedicated staff and loyal customers, we continue to thrive in the evolving foodservice landscape.

2023 - 2025

Welcoming the 4th Generation.

2023 marks the beginning of our 4th generation with Jeff’s son, Sam Miller re-joining the family business.
